Diamond Wedding Bands: How and When to Purchase Them

There is no doubt that your diamond wedding bands will be the two most important pieces of jewelry you will ever wear. Sure, your grandmother's earrings are an essential item in your collection, but these
wedding bands represent your future and everything you hope to build with your life partner. Choosing these rings should be taken very seriously and you should not wait until the last minute to do so.

Sometimes jewelry stores will have to order the diamond wedding bands you choose to buy. This could take months! When they do finally come into the store, you will also have to make sure they fit and possibly get them sized, which will take another little while to accomplish. The moral of the story here is that if you wait until the week of your wedding to purchase your wedding rings, you probably won't have any to exchange on your wedding day!

You also want to make sure your diamond wedding bands are conducive to your life and what you do for a living. If your man works with his hands a lot, you will want to find the most durable metal that is impervious to scratches and dings or you will be replacing the ring more often than you will prefer.

Wedding Bands: Engagement Ring Up-Stagers

The wedding bands you exchange on your magical wedding day are going to be one the most important rings you ever wear. With the exception of your engagement ring, these new rings will be the most valuable assets you could ever own.

The week leading up to your wedding is going to be a crazy time on your life! There will be so many last minute details to see to and also numerous people trying to contact you about arrangements and questions. Your best bet is to have a friend field all of these questions for you so you can have a less stressful experience and actually enjoy the day you exchange wedding bands with the love of your life.

One of the most important things to remember is to get your engagement ring cleaned and polished the day before the wedding. Your new diamond wedding rings will be perfect and shiny so you better make sure your engagement ring can hang with the big boys! Although your wedding bands will be the center of attention on your wedding day, it does not mean your engagement ring should suffer or look terrible next to the other! Off to the jewelry store you go.

Do Not Be Impulsive When Buying Diamond Engagement Rings

When it is time to put a ring on that girl's finger, you will know. You have been asking for signs and all of those signs point to "Yes! Marry that girl!" It could hit you like a ton of bricks one morning out of a dead sleep or it could come to you slowly over the course of a few months or years, but one way or another, you will know for sure that you must lock this beautiful woman down and put a shiny diamond engagement ring on her finger before some other guy does. This is a big life decision just in time for the holidays, so it is really perfect timing!

Christmas specials for diamond rings are going to be all over the place this year. No matter what kind of designs she likes, you will be able to easily find something on sale to buy just for her. There is still a lot of time and energy spent on this decision, though. You may know you want to marry her, but you still have to research rings and plan an actual proposal. Just take your time in these phases of this process because no one likes an impulsive diamond engagement ring shopper!

Solitaire Engagement Rings: Act Like the Celebrities

Solitaire engagement rings are some of the most stunning rings you will ever see. There is something about having a single, massive diamond as the focal point of the piece of jewelry that makes it catch everyone's eye.

Many celebrities love to go over the top when it comes to giving and receiving solitaire engagement rings. Kim Kardashian just received a 15 carat ring from singer Kanye West last year. In his elaborate and very planned proposal, she accepted the ring and they agreed to get married even though they had already had a child together. Other celebrity solitaire rings are just as big and also prevalent.

If you are not a celebrity and you are simply an average Joe, do not worry too much about trying to scrape up enough money to buy a million dollar diamond ring! There are plenty of other rings that are more affordable and just a gorgeous. Fifteen carats seems a little big to lugging around on your finger every single day, but I guess it is the norm for some people. The perfect ring will be one she is comfortable with, loves and one that will not break the bank. Keep in mind you still have a wedding to plan!

Look Better than Cleopatra with Museum Jewelry

When I look at old paintings and statues, I often find myself gazing at the jewelry that the people are wearing. To me, it seems like with such simple designs they were able to produce some extraordinary pieces. Museum jewelry is one way we can continue to look back and merge the fashions of yesterday with today.

One of my favorite types of jewelry is the style that comes from the East. I find that Asian styles are intricate and detailed on a level that we don’t often see here in the West. Jade is hard to find here in the West and Eastern artists have used this material in a lot of their jewelry. Jade in China was the equivalent of gold in the west. Only the richest and most powerful people were able to wear this stone. Now with jade deposits found in Canada and India, jade is more available on a wide scale. Artists continue to use jade in making jewelry that reflects ancient Asian culture with modern designs.

Another type of museum jewelry is lapis jewelry. Lapis lazuli is a semi-precious stone that is known for its intense blue color. Ancient Egyptians often used it in the designs of amulets and ornaments like the famous scarabs. Ground lapis was used as eye shadow for Cleopatra. If you want to feel like Cleopatra, just put on some lapis jewelry and walk like an Egyptian.

Diamond Rings: Under Appreciated in the Jeweler's World

I feel bad for diamond rings. I know that may sound like a silly thing to say, but when you hear the logic of my argument, you might come around to my way of thinking about. I’m not the only person who feels that way either. Many professional jewelers, especially the ones who are not just salespeople but also the ones who create and design jewelry as well, understand that they are an under-appreciated piece of fine jewelry. The reason I feel bad? Two words: engagement rings.

The diamond has become such the accepted stone for when it’s time to pop the question, a ring with any other stone will immediately solicit any number of questions and comments, ranging from “could he not afford a diamond” to “are you out of your mind?” The flip side to that is that it is next to impossible for a person to pull off wearing diamond rings without people asking you when the big day is. It is certainly easier for a man to sport a ring with diamonds in them, but that’s only because men don’t slip on the ring until they’ve said “I do.” If a woman is wearing one, it doesn’t matter what finger she puts it on. People will just assume it means one thing and one thing only. Who knew that something as beautiful as a diamond could become so marginalized?
